Prom

Burley's prom was just a couple of weeks ago, and Carlie went with one of her friends, Ryan Olson. They didn't have much time for a day date, because Carlie had to take the ACT that day, but their group did go up to the Cottonwood Caves and hike around. She was in a group with a bunch of very nice kids, and they all had fun. Carlie looked so beautiful in her dress, and thanks to mom her hair was fabulous!

We have been doing 4-H pigs for about the last 4 years, and we weren't really planning on doing them this year. However, at the very last minute, we found 4 pigs, which were the exact amount we needed. So on Saturday morning, we all woke up at about 9 to go and weigh them in. That is not early at all compared to what time we usually get up which is 5 A.M! They all weighed between 44-50 pounds. My pig is sick, but is getting better, and now our spare is sick, so hopefully we can get him feeling better. The pigs are so fun and cute to play with and we all enjoy them!

Lacy's Shop Project

Carlie just downloaded a lot of pictures onto the computer, so we have a lot of updating to do. I just got put into shop this semester, and am having a pretty good time. I made the cork board/magnet board/dry-erase board and we are now making co2 cars. Those however, are not my favorite! I am pretty stressed about it, but I have sketched my design and cut it out, so I am not too far behind. Wish me luck!!!

Renaissance Person

I guess that Lacy was asked to write about a Renaissance person in her history class. Her teacher said to pick someone that they knew that was good at everything and write about them and why they would be considered a Renaissance person. Well, Lacy chose Carlie. This was on the computer and I thought it was so sweet that I needed to post it. Lacy is a great girl and we all love her very much!

Renaissance Person

The person that I choose to be a Renaissance person would have to be my sister Carlie. Carlie is a wonderful person, inside and out. She is not only smart, but also has many other great qualities about her. Carlie maintains a 4.0 GPA. Just this past month, Carlie was elected the State BPA President. She is very responsible, and likes school. She is always caught up with her homework. Carlie has a love for music also. She is great at the piano and violin. Carlie also has a beautiful singing voice. Just this summer, Carlie won Rodeo Princess. She is planning on running for Queen this summer at the fair. Carlie loves animals. She is the person who takes care of most of them, which include horses, rabbits, goats, pigs, cats, and a dog. The many things Carlie is good at wouldn’t begin to fill within these lines, but know that she is someone who I respect beyond measure. Carlie is a wonderful person, and great example to everyone. In my eyes, she is amazing, and someone I would definitely consider to be a Renaissance person!

Hayden's 8th Birthday

Happy birthday Hayden! He turned 8 years old today! We celebrated it with Grandma and Grandpa Morrison, and some of our neighbors. Hayden also wants to have a "friend" birthday party on Saturday. He got a lot of presents. I will try and get some pictures as soon as I can.

BHS Student Earns Statewide Honor

I was in the paper today! Here's the text of the article:

Mini-Cassia’s robust economy is starting to rub off on the youth. Burley High School 11th grader Carlie Morrison was elected the Idaho President of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) at the organization’s leadership conference last week.

Morrison said in her new role she will act as a liaison between students across the state and the business industry and will travel around the state visiting other BPA chapters.“She’s just a neat young lady,” Morrison’s advisor DeAnn Campbell said.Campbell said Morrison will now represent Idaho at the national leadership conference in Reno, Nev. “You can tell by her poise and posture she’s going to be one of those responsible and great kids,” Campbell said.

Morrison gave a speech at the conference, took a test and was interviewed before being elected to her position by her peers. Morrison said the event was stressful, but it also provided an opportunity meet a lot of new friends.“I would encourage any high school student to find out about the organization, because it’s really done a lot for me and I think it could do a lot for them too,” she said.

Morrison said she plans on studying business in college and hopes to stay somewhat close to home, with Brigham Young and Utah State as two of her top choices
